Actually, if I was to say what exactly I was hearing now as being the sound of spring, I'd have to say that Willie Nelson's "Maria" and my mother screaming bloody murder as being the first sound of spring for me.

Imagine a place that is pretty much flatter than hell. Now imagine a sky to ground strike. It is very damn impressive. When visiting my relatives in North Dakota, my uncle and I would drive around, away from the town, when there was a storm just to watch in complete darkness.

Sounds magnificent.

When is the storm season, and can we go there then?

You know, I guess it must be nice there, because it's clear and all, but I would kill to be somewhere in Borneo around the monsoon time for a few days as well.

I remember one Thunderstorm from when I was about 14 or so, it lasted for about eight hours straight, and it had constant thunder and lightning. *sigh*

A girl-friend (who lived near me) and I would sit on the porch all of the time during Thunderstorms, it would be so cool to listen to the rubbling so far away as the storm approached.

Yep, the Mid-west is a reallllly nice place to be sometimes.

The one thing I'll miss about living in Bloomington was the thunderstorms. We get some decent ones here, but in Bloomington (central Illinois) we had tornado alarms going off about once every three weeks from March-May and August-October. Shweeeeeeet.

Leaf blowers???! What the hell kind of diseased trees do they have in California!!???? It's pring, aren't the leaves supposed to be on the trees?

Leaf blowers meaning anything hand held that makes a lot of noise, designed to blow shit into the neighbor's yard or out in the street. Weed whackers fall in this category for me as well. Esp when I'm trying to sleep in the morning.

About leaf blowers, Magnolias up here lose their leaves in the sping.

voz, DC has a lot of Cherry Blossom trees doesn't it? If so, are they blossoming yet? My friend in Tokyo says that ones they have there (imported from America) are blossoming like mad now.

Peak starts this Sunday.

Yes they are really beatuiful. My commute is along the river, I can look across at the trees, as I drive. When you walk under them after they peak it is like a pink snow fall.

It is a great romantic walk.

I love Wisconsin, if not for the names, for their pure unadulturated cheese.
