Colour association

In the SST forum, users are free to discuss philosophy, music, art, religion, sock colour, whatever. It's a haven from the madness of Bulldrek; alternately intellectual and mundane, this is where the controversy takes place.

Colour association

Post by Sowhat »

What colours do you associate with different days, letters, or numbers? Eg. for me:

Monday = Red
Tuesday = Light Green
Wednesday = Blue
Thursday = Middle Green
Friday = Dark Green
Saturday = Light Blue
Sunday = Slightly Darker Blue (same as Wednesday)

Let's see if I can do this...

Monday = Red
Tuesday = Yellow
Wednesday = Orange/White
Thursday = Blue
Friday = Green
Satuday = White
Sunday = White

You see, I remember this from kindergarten, where they had these large round pieces of card-board, lined up to represent the days of the week. They had different colours and the name of the day written in the center of them. Wednesdays we had the afternoon off, which is why the lower-half of the circle was white. Saturday and Sunday were white, too, because we had those off as well.

It's odd, but after 20 years or so, I still associate those colours with the days of the week.

Sunday - Gray
Monday - Gray
Tuesday - Gray
Wednesday - Gray
Thursday - Gray
Friday - Gray
Saturday - Gray

I don't believe in being predisposed towards a day's potential outcome based on its colour or position in the week. They can go either way.

Monday - orange
Tuesday - dark blue

Friday - light blue
Saturday - silver

Tuesday: No color associated.

Wedsnesday: White

Thursday: Green, the kind that they color dollar bills with.

Friday: The color a Long Island Iced Tea is in Neon Lights

Saturday: Flesh Tone

Sunday:No color associated.

The language is English, and the spelling is, and always has been, colour. You need the 'u'. It's a necessity. Spelling it 'color' is like having a Gin & Tonic without the slice of lemon. Which is really quite drastic.

And for your (useless) information, the letter 'u' is Orange. Just like Umbrella. Hm, I'm sure I had a point in there somewhere. No, it seems not.

Monday - Turquoise
Tuesday - Brown
Wednesday - White
Thursday - Red
Friday - Green
Saturday - Blue
Sunday - Pink

Of course, this is mainly because these are the colour codes for the pallets/deliveries at work so they're what I associate now. :)

Yeah well. That's just 'cause we owned you guys longer so you were able to learn properly. :p

I don't associate days with colors at all...

...why do you associate a day with a color? <scratching head in confusion>

Something to do with the right side of our brains, and memory I think. I wonder if people who strongly associate things with colours, smells and sounds have better memories than people who don't.

I doubt it. I associate memories very strongly with smells, and with sounds, and I have a totally lousy memory.

Actually, I don't either. I can understand how, and maybe why, people do it, but I don't personally.

*nods* I have a fairly strong ability to associate memories with music and sounds. My memory in general? It sucks.

Now, aside from trying to figure out why someone would associate a day with a color, I'm also trying to figure out why *not* doing that makes me a "fucktard"...

You're missing the point. Your inability to understand other people's motivations are what make you a fucktard.
