So I may finaly break down and start playing an MMORPG. What do people here think of World of Warcraft?

It's fantastic. I have a 46 gnome warrior, and am levelling up a mage as well. Skullcrusher server.

Well it's the same crap as all the other MMORPGs but SWG, so if you were avoiding MMOs because of leveling, grinding, static camping, overused clone quests and highly generic character models, then you could probably wait for something better.... also in typically Blizzard fashion, this is pretty much Everquest, so with EQ2 out there's at least a more advanced system with prettier graphic out there that pretty much plays the same...but if your aBlizzard fan, then this is likely the game for you

Oh sweet sassy molassy, I would completely disagree with that. For one, you can actually do crap on your own, in small pieces of playtime. Unlike EQ2, you can actually get things done solo, and without needing to play for 3 hours at a time. Combat is fast-paced and entertaining, and downtime is mercifully short. The game was specifically designed with more casual gamers in mind.

Visually, I actually far prefer it to EQ2, which actually has a far more advanced graphics engine. That's because Blizzard actually realizes that there are colors besides grey and brown. That said, it is a bit stylized and 'cartoony' which has thrown some people off.

If you're a Blizzard fan, it's true you'll probably like this game, but it's in no way a prerequisite for enjoying it more than other MMO's out there now. Hell, I hated one of Blizzard's most popular games (Diablo), and I think WoW's the bees knees.

Your a 46 gnome warrior in Skullcrusher? If you ever see a level 24 orc hunter named Durndell could you please not kill him? That's my character and I get ganked enough as it is by evil gnomes. :D

World of Warcraft GOOD. That's all I have to say.

Skull crusher - 40 NE Rouge named Shinara
Bloodscalp - 11 Tauren Druid named Ruxpin

i dont play a whole lot now, so if you see those 2 it may or may not be me.

If anybody's ever on Eonar, my current characters are:

Volexa, level 12 Orc Hunter
Foerender, level 8 Troll Warrior
Ironbull, level 8 Tauren shaman

I'd suggest trying to get a Bulldrek group together, but I remember when we tried that with Diablo 2.

If you want to start a group, you have to pick a single server to do it on. Especially since the servers don't have the chat system in place that would allow you to talk between them.

Just started a Tauren Warrior named Painengine on Skullcrusher.

And all of you come over to Proudmoore. Look for Rilla. ;)

I'll probably be getting a guest account shortly, and assuming I can find a copy before that runs out (and assuming I like it) I may well be signing up for a more regular account...

So far I see two Skullcrushers and two Proudmoores... And one Skullcrusher isn't playing much anymore. Sooo... Guild Bulldrek will be on Proudmoore, says I. :p Hey Cash, when (as in what time of day) do you and Jestyr usually play? I also need to find out what server my local friends (the one's I'm getting the gust account from) are on... I'll probably start there, but maybe I'll get fancy and multi-server-like. ;)

Correction: 4 on Skullcrusher, one of whom doesn't play much any more. Then again, I seem to be the only regularly playing Alliance on Skull.

Since Proudmoore is the unofficial Aussie server, we tend to play on aussie times (evening to early morning - 7 am or so) Southern Wardens

My local compatriots play on Medievh, so I started a Human Paladin there. However, Medievh and Skullcrusher were down earlier today, so I've now got a Dwarven Hunter on Proudmoore. Using Anguirel as a character name on both.

screw proudmore - its a normy server. PVP is where its at!

Anybody got a Horde character on Skullcrusher around level 20?

Current main character is a level 18 Orc Warlock named Korgeth.

Also, has anybody not done Ragefire Chasm? I've spent the last 5 levels trying to find a group for that damn place.

Sorry Sniper, but you're on the wrong server. I've got a 27 Hunter on Destromath. He's part of either the biggest or second biggest Horde guild on the server.

Clockwork FTW!

I could have a level 15 or so Horde character on Skullcrusher in a day or two if you'd like...

Current characters, though:
Medievh - Anguirel - Human Paladin, 35 - would be higher level, but I slowed down to play with friends.

Medievh - Lachangel - Gnome Warlock, 13 (or so, I think)

Proudmoore - Anguirel - Dwarf Hunter, maybe 10, haven't played him in a while

Silver Hand - Clearskyrain (which looks a lot worse when spaces and capitalization are removed, bastards) - Tauren Shaman, 27 - would be higher level, but instead I picked up a full set of "Embrace of the Fang" leather armor, because it's purple and looks awesome.

That's two Normal servers and an RP. I wouldn't mind trying a PvP server if I had friends around to make it worth it (and to attempt to really cool quests that include going really deep into the other side's territory, which is so much easier on a Normal server as you never need to worry about being ganked).

go to bloodscalp or skull crusher servers.
ask for SMD clan Horde side on bloodscalp, good people there.
Immortality is the best guild on skull crusher, Alliance side.

Skull crusher:
45 NE Rouge, Shinara
18 Gnome Rouge, Criket
13 Dwarf Pally, Ruxpin

BloodScalp:
18 Tauren Druid, Ruxpin

Ive got freinds all over these servers, a couple 60s, and the guilds your in for pvp servers really do help out a lot.

Narisah (my NE Hunter) hit 60 about two months ago. Been working on a few of my alts (At a MUCH slower pace) since then. Mharune is just passing 32, Mages are more fun than I thought they'd be. :D It's like being a walking tactical-nuke. Not enjoying my Rogue (Nita) so much...

Drekkers are welcome to come visit us (Bull also plays on SH as Dagg or Thakken) although I doubt anyone would recognize most of the personalities in our guild - being as most are RL friends or IG friends from our previous allegiance for AC.

Bloodscalp Horde. Sure. I can do that.

Need to make an Alliance-side alt for Silver Hand as well, I guess...

Yup!

I spent most of last night in Scarlet Monastery (at level 32) with my guild-mates (levels 38, 44, 45, 46).

It's exciting fun watching resist after resist fly by my screen, to be eventually rewarded with a 100 point critical.

It was just like being a walking breathing punching bag. Mobs would race past everyone to beat on my poor little mage...

the pvp honor rewards are disgusting. they're better than most higher level drops, but mostly back armor.

The PvP Honor System is disgusting (not in a good way, and not the rewards, though those are nice). Though as people slowly realize that you can report people for harrassment if they continually keep a town down, it's improving. I mean, I expect a lot fo PvP stupidity on a PvP server. On a Normal or RP server, though, I'd like to be able to do quests, that's what I'm there for. The idiots sitting in the middle of a town killing all the quest givers waiting for someone to show up to defend for four hours missed the brain train. If no one shows up in thirty minutes or less, they aren't coming. If you have more than twenty people and there's no defense already up, it's not coming. People will show up, look at the stupidity, and leave. If your side (Alliance or Horde) has a significant numbers advantage (2-to-1 or higher in general player count) guess what - the defenders will pick and choose the battles, and you're better off in small packs than in giant raid groups.

The whole system is like a Blizzard handed out a license to be assholes to the people who were already raiding towns before. I can't wait for Battlegrounds to come out and take the fight elsewhere so the people who aren't Level 60 yet can get quests turned in.

Seriously, Ashenvale is a hell hole and so is South Shore. Those are the two worst areas imho. The BGs sound all sorts of bad ass.

So, anbody want to make Bulldrek: The Guild?

Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 4:36 am

Well, we could, but we'd have to pick a server for it.

Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 5:07 am
by Silent Sniper
Any suggestions? I'd rather we avoid a PvP server so we don't have to deal with quite as much Honor System wankery, though.

Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 5:21 am
by JohnnyRico
Personally, I'd recommend that we use a server that's either RP or PVE server. I know that Destromath (My main server, PVP) gets sucktacular after about 9:15 Eastern (only because it's a West Coast server, and the locals are only getting home around then.)

Which other server has the most of us on it? Mostly because I'm greedy and could use some decent gear early on if I'm starting on a server away from my high level Hunter.

Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 7:08 am
by Silent Sniper
Skullcrusher or Bloodscalp, probably. Don't think there is a normal server with more than one or two people on it.

Also, does anybody know if you can tame a hydra?

Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 2:16 pm
by JohnnyRico
I forgot, we also have to pick a side. Horde or Alliance?

(Horde FTW!)

Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 8:15 pm
by Silent Sniper
I'd prefer Horde, but the good thing abut a normal sever is we could just make Bulldrek Horde and Bulldrek Alliance.

Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 8:40 pm
by Anguirel
I've got Alliance on Medivh, Horde on Silver Hand (which is likely the highest concentration of BD people on a RP server... but they're all on the Alliance Side), and a low-level Alliance on Proudmoore. Horde on Gurubashi, but that's PvP -- not wankered yet, but it will be in time. No one up high enough to turn it into a total gankfest yet, though.

I totally don't mind starting new characters though. I recommend Proudmoore (ThatCash, Jestyr) or Silver Hand (Dvixen, Bull, possibly others) if we go Alliance. Horde, we can do Silverhand (Sunstorm - formerly Clearskyrain, but evidently 3 words is a partial sentence and therefore a violation - is up to mid-30's now), or anything else. Wasn't there a new PvE server opened at the same time as Gurubashi? *checks old news* yeah, Skywall. Might be fun to play on there, or we can wait for the next new server and all make new characters on it.

Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 10:47 pm
by Silent Sniper
Sky wall would probably be good, but here's what I've got for PvE characters:

Eonar:
Volexa, level 22 Orc Hunter
Foerender, level 12 Troll Warrior
Ironbull, level 12 Tauren Shaman
Eisenhammer, level 13 Dwarf Paladin

Doomhammer:
Foerender, level 11 Troll Hunter
Huatalama, level 7 Tauren Druid
