[Mini-Gathering] Chicago
[Mini-Gathering] Chicago
So any of you Chicago folks up for a bit of a mini gathering? Get together for some dinner, drinks, maybe some games/movies. I'd be willing to host if neccesary.
So.... Daki, Gunny, IC, Jaded, Jim, Patience? Caz and Thorn? Anyone else?

Depending on how soon you are planning it I might be up for that since it looks like I have to head back to DE for a little bit.

Um, for last weekend in January? Maybe not so much on our end. We're definitely winding up booked heavily for that weekend, and I'm not so energetic as I am accustomed to being. This whole gestating thing kinda takes some fire out of a girl.

This weekend isn't the end of January, is it? I thought that was next weekend (the 30th). Either way, it works for me.MooCow wrote:Well, I'm all for a little house warming party this weekend. Could everyone make it? Obviously Caz and Thorn are out, but what about others? If we bumped it to a weekend that's better for Caz and Thorn would we lose other people?

A small kitten that you've trained to dangle from Morris' ears would be highly cool.So Moo, since this is a housewarming party and such, what do you need for your home?
Other then that I can't think of much. Good quality liquor for the bar is always appreciated. I haven't bought a high end vodka, nor any single malt whiskeys yet. And of course stupid cow stuff, like hand towels and spice racks and the like.
I'd say there is no need to bring anything, but I've learned long ago that when people ask you what you want it means "Pick something cause we're getting you things whether you like it or not".
(I'll say it anyways. Though this is a "housewarming" I don't really expect anything. It's just an excuse to get everyone together, because for some reason these days we need a reason to get together with our friends.)

I want to shoot one of these Church kids and ask them "Where is your god now!"

Nigger, with your damn Chicago trip. 'Sup.
There is then a need to guard against a temptation to overstate the economic evils of our own age, and to ignore the existence of similar, or worse, evils in earlier ages. Even though some exaggeration may, for the time, stimulate others, as well as ourselves, to a more intense resolve that the present evils should no longer exist, but it is not less wrong and generally it is much more foolish to palter with truth for good than for a selfish cause. The pessimistic descriptions of our own age, combined with the romantic exaggeration of the happiness of past ages must tend to setting aside the methods of progress, the work of which, if slow, is yet solid, and lead to the hasty adoption of others of greater promise, but which resemble the potent medicines of a charlatan, and while quickly effecting a little good sow the seeds of widespread and lasting decay. This impatient insincerity is an evil only less great than the moral torpor which can endure, that we with our modern resources and knowledge should look contentedly at the continued destruction of all that is worth having. There is an evil and an extreme impatience as well as an extreme patience with social ills.
