Re: The Death of Bulldrek?
Look, matey, I know a dead forum when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now.Subversive Agent wrote:'It's not dead, 'it's restin'!Serious Paul wrote:It's time to ask the age old question: Is Bulldrek dead?
It's not restin'! It's passed on! This forum is no more! It has ceased to be! It's expired and gone to meet its maker! No no it's not dead, it's, it's restin'! Remarkable forum, Bulldrek, idn'it, ay? Beautiful plumage!
It's stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn't hit that post button it'd be pushing up the daisies!
Its metabolic processes are now history! It's off the twig!
It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!
THIS IS AN EX-FORUM!!

Well, I'm back. I think. Computer's still fucked. I think it's the AGP slot in my motherboard for the video. I plugged an old Trident in to PCI slot, and it's been going for an hour now, no lock up. The suq. That means I have to replace the motherboard, right?
And dead? Yeah, right. Bulldrek ain't never gonna die. Too many cool people here that I ain't fucking met yet.

Well, you could always go back to having lots of short, meaningless ones. Just a thought.Instant Cash wrote:Which I feel is very wrong with long term relationships.WillyGilligan wrote:These threads are sort of like asking if your marriage is dead because you're not having the wild monkey sex that you used to have twice a day for the first year. I really want to know /why/ this happens.
I know it is not due to lack of desire on my part.
you hear about this with almost every relationship though. Why the fuck does the fire go out? If I could answer that, many people would not have the "I need to get laid" look about them.

I am pretty sure we've managed to degenerate into various bickering groups of people. What galvanized us as a community no longer exsists apparently. We whine, bicker, and take each other too seriously. we take offense where maybe none was meant, and nit pick each other.
I am not logging off into that sweet good night, but Bulldrek has slowly worked its way int the last place I check anymore. DSF is better these days. Maybe the experiment is done, and its time to start anew, mybe the magic will rise again-I am not sure i care.
To the memory of what was, and why I lovedit. Next year come fundingtime, this board will likely disappear, as maybe it should.

You love me, you really love me.Kai wrote:Anymore Bulldrek is just how I keep in touch with people I consider friends. A lot have live journals, yes, and I talk on IRC, but there are a few that don't or I don't see often that occasionally gravitate back to Bulldrek, like Brine.
Damn the Man. How 'bout this? Dumpshockers are a bunch of high-opinionated poop-throwing monkeys! There. That ought to stir the fire again.Bulldrek was always the anti-establishment group, but when we became the establishment, we lost something to be against. There was nothing to keep us going the same direction but momentum and friendship. Some of us know others better now, and respect them more, but some we know better and respect them less, and so we've fractured into subgroups for all intents.
Shut down BD?!? Perish the thought! Where else could I go and talk about my love of poo and not be thrown out on my arse? Its the natural cycle of things. And as almost pointless Bulldrek is nowadays, I can't really honestly say we should shut it down even though a graceful exit is better than a slow death, there's too much attached to the name and the idea.
This is my signature. Enjoy

overall, you CAN'T shut down bulldrek, because even though it's been kind of comatose lately, it's still the one rallying point that we all have in common. Even though we sometimes get bogged down in real life and other shit like that, we still know that when we are looking to get back in touch, bulldrek will be here.

I don't post as often as I should (damned MMPORPGs), but no, bulldrek just won't die. Even with a shotgun blast to the head.

It must be the power of Brine, as old faces turn up...
Not having logged in myself in, hell, months, this thread attracted me right away.
If I can throw my two cents in, I think there was an influx of atypical bulldrekkers what descended on the land like locusts and pilfered the crops (in this case, fun). It seemed for a while that we got a string of people who...well...simply put were the kinda fuckers I left Dumpshock to get away from. When I came to Bulldrek, DSF seemed overpopulated by a bunch of immature miscreants who went around hassling people in an infantile attempt to have some kind of effect on thier surrounding. Stumbling onto Bulldrek, I saw a group of people who while sharing a lot of my pasttimes, were also able to handle themselves and others in a mature way (often times goofy and silly, but still mature). Then a lot of those immature personalities like the ones I attempted to escape started popping into the environment, and suddenly, Bulldrek wasn't fun anymore.
So, several months later, I revisit to find a seemingly quiet Bulldrek. It seems that Bulldrek really just reached its critical mass. Many perished in the firestorm, many others evacuated, but a few survivors hang on, looking to rebuild thier utopia anew.
That's my view, anyhoo.

Dead? You're tellin' me. Sheeeit, I haven't been on here since, what, mid-September? I come here on a psychotic whim, and there isn't even a full page-and-a-half's worth of new entries. Hell, that won't even take up a single insomniatic night's boredom marathon to go through.
_SURPRISE! I don't like you!
